Grant Access to the App for a New User
The app provides two types of access: Admin and Read Only. This guide explains how to grant each type of access to new users.
Admin Access
Admins can fully access the app, including creating and modifying matching rules, merging records, and configuring all app settings.
Assign the No Duplicates Admin Permission Set
- From Setup, enter Permission in the Quick Find box, then select Permission Set
- Select the "No Duplicates Admin" permission set
- Click the "Manage Assignments" button
- Select the checkboxes next to the names of the users you want assigned to the permission set
- Click the "Add Assignments" button
Grant Modify All Data Permission (Optional)
The "Modify All Data" permission may be required for certain operations. You can grant it using one of the following methods:
Option 1: Through a Permission Set
- From Setup, enter Permission in the Quick Find box, then select Permission Set
- Click the "New" button
- Enter "Modify All Data" in the Label field
- Enter "Modify_All_Data" in the API Name field
- Click the "Save" button
- Click on the "System Permission" link
- Click the "Edit" button
- Check the "Modify All Data" checkbox
- Click the "Save" button
- Click the "Manage Assignments" button
- Select the checkboxes next to the names of the users you want assigned to the permission set
- Click the "Add Assignments" button
Option 2: Through the User's Profile
- From Setup, enter User in the Quick Find box, then select Users
- Click on the user's profile next to the name of the user
- Click the "Edit" button
- Check the "Modify All Data" checkbox
- Click the "Save" button
When to Use: Option 1 (Permission Set) is recommended if you want to grant this permission to specific users without modifying their profile. Option 2 (Profile) is useful if all users with a particular profile need this permission.
Read Only Access
Users with Read Only access can:
- View the app's components
- Run matching rules
- View duplicate reports
They cannot:
- Create or modify matching rules
- Merge records
- Change app settings
Assign the No Duplicates Read Only Permission Set
- From Setup, enter Permission in the Quick Find box, then select Permission Set
- Select the "No Duplicates Read Only" permission set
- Click the "Manage Assignments" button
- Select the checkboxes next to the names of the users you want assigned to the permission set
- Click the "Add Assignments" button
Quick Access: After assigning permission sets, users may need to refresh their browser or log out and log back in to see the app in their navigation.
